Your Incredible Dream

“You will not do incredible things without an incredible dream.”

         John Eliot

Wow, that was incredible. You did it. You beat out all the odds and you actually made it happen. When you first started you weren’t sure you could do it. The tasked seemed very daunting but you were committed. You believed. You took action. You turned what used to be a dream into reality. Ok time to wake up. What were you thinking about while you were reading the words above? Have you ever accomplished something incredible? If yes, then it all started with an incredible dream. If no, then you better get to dreaming and that dream better be incredible. You won’t do incredible things without an incredible dream.

Yes it is true, dreaming means nothing if you don’t act on your dream. Maybe you are that person who says dreamers are weak. People that take action are the real winners. That is a great mantra to have and you are a real go getter. However, if you don’t have an incredible dream what are you going to get? You get your wins. You are a top performer but what are you working towards. Is it a better life for your family? Is it a nice car in the parking lot? Is it just the fact you want everyone to know you are the best (ego)? When you go home at night how do you feel? However you feel you could feel a whole lot better if you ended up accomplishing an incredible dream.

Dreaming is important because it gives the direction to where you want to be in life. We only get one shot at life and we might as well go big. The alternative to going big is a life filled with mediocrity. That may be ok with some of you but not with all. Some of you want more than the status quo. Some of you want to maximize this precious life that you have been given. There is something inside you that is motivating you to want to do so. Maybe it’s your desire to give your family the life you know you are capable of giving them. You could be motivated to impact the world because deep down you know you were born to do just that. Maybe you are driven to be the best because it would be disrespectful to you, your parents or your creator to be anything less. Whatever your motivation, the accomplishment of that goal all starts with a dream.

You can achieve what you put your mind to achieving. If you don’t put your mind to anything you could end up achieving nothing. If you put your mind to mediocrity you can achieve mediocrity. If you put your mind to something incredible you can achieve something incredible. So choose something incredible and trust that you have made the right choice. There’s no need to say the cliché “shoot for the stars”. You already know you are doing yourself a disservice by not having an incredible dream. Some of you are fine with that. Most of you are not. If you are the latter then you need to take action now. As you know the only time that matters is now. The sooner you start your incredible dreams the sooner you will achieve your incredible things. You are a master creator and it is time for you to fully utilize that talent.

Take inventory of the things you dream about. What is your dream relationship like? What would make it incredible? What is your dream occupation? What would make it incredible? What is your dream financial status? What would make it incredible? What is your dream gift to the world? What would make it incredible? What is your dream creation? What would make it incredible? Get out a piece of paper or you journal and write down the answers to the question above. Take one of those answers and read it tonight before you go to bed. Read it again when you wake up in the morning. Do this for a week. Better yet do it for a month. This will cement it into your subconscious. The subconscious mind is where the best dreams lie.

Once you have cemented that dream you must now move on to setting a goal. Write the goal in detail. Utilize the same tools you’ve been taught at work to write your teams goals for the year. As example write your goal in the SMART format (Specific, Measureable, Achievable/Realistic and Time-Bound). Break down the goal into manageable micro goals that you can accomplish in the next 90 days, 6 months or year. Run your life like you run your projects at work. For some of you run your life better than you run your projects at work. 😊 Once you begin this process and commit to taking action, you will begin to create incredible things. It all will have started from an incredible dream. As always I wish you the best and enjoy the journey.
